In a world of instant gratification even creative pursuits like jewellery designing have got fast tracked. Handcrafting fine jewellery is a labour of love, patience and creativity at its best. In the pursuit of mass and rapid production of jewellery, use of moulds has become the norm. So what if thousands of traditional craftsmen have not only lost their livelihoods but also the priceless skills acquired painstakingly through centuries of dedicated practice?
For the connoisseurs of silver jewellery all that is available in the market are thick heavy tribal motifs. That silver jewellery can be delicately crafted with finesse was something inconceivable to most designers. The dream to handcraft fine silver jewellery from scratch is what led to the idea of Kaahon.
When we found Kaarigars who had the ability and willingness to focus on the intricate designs rather than on just metal and moulds the dream turned in to reality. 11 years, 1 retail shop, 500+ Designs, 1200+ Products, 200+ Happy customers later, our Karigars are super happy and raring to experiment, learn and evolve with tougher and more challenging designs. They are now an unstoppable group !!
Kaahon started in 2011 as an attempt to see if it was possible to create stories at reasonable prices. These stories were limited editions. They were, and are meant to cater to women who love quirky yet graceful, fashionable yet classic ideas to accessorise their days.
Home or Social gatherings or Professional lives or Great Gifting ideas: Kaahon was designed in 925 silver which would enhance the natural Feminine.
We searched for Karigars who were willing to understand the design and lend their crafting skills to Silver. Silver was going to be treated as fine as Gold – something that they were not used to. Each piece needed to be created by hand since no mould were being used: fine and light weight jewellery to rival fine gold pieces.
